CASH out is a formative assessment strategy that allows students to reflect individually on a reading passage, video clip, or article using four guiding questions:
(1) What did you learn about the topic? (Cognitive-comprehension)
(2) How did you react to the topic? (Affective-feeling/emotion)
(3) What surprised you about the topic? (Surprise)
(4) What idea or topic was helpful to you? (Help)
This can be:
-turned in as an exit slip
-timed pair share= each partner has one minute to share out responses to each question
