Categories packet- sort by category, category naming, and categorizing activities!
This categories packet utilizes movement- based activities (such as exercises and yoga poses) to engage your students while they practice category skills such as:
identifying the category an item belongs to
which one doesn't belong?
similarities and differences
Each category skill targeted is paired with an exercise or yoga stretch (for example, a student may be asked, “Tell me what category it’s in” before completing 10 jumping jacks). Engage your special education, preschool, or speech and language therapy students- get them moving with this fun-filled packet!
Categories targeted in this speech and language therapy movement learning packet include but are not limited to:
clothing, zoo animals, farm animals, forest animals, food (vegetables, fruit, protein, grains), furniture, sports equipment, school supplies, gardening tools, shapes
This categories packet is no prep. I recommend printing all of the sheets and laminating them so you can use a dry erase marker to cross out, check off, circle, or trace lines to answer choices once completed.
Included categorizing worksheets (25 total)
Workout 1: 5 total worksheets that target labeling what category a picture belongs to (after providing the category for a given item, the student will perform the target exercise, stretch, or movement activity)
Workout 2: 5 total worksheets that target category sorting (the student is instructed to choose which category a picture belongs to, given a field of 2 possible answer choices, such as choosing between fruit or vegetable, then completing the exercise/ stretch/ movement activity that corresponds to that answer choice. You may find using a dry erase marker with this worksheet helpful)
Workouts A-E (3 workouts per letter): 15 total worksheets that target pointing to items in a given category, identifying the item that doesn’t belong, stating the category for the picture, naming items in categories, explaining how things are alike, explaining how things are different - after each question, student completes a target stretch or exercise
Disclaimer: This is not meant to be an exercise program.
