This is the fourth of five packets as part of the lesson plan focused on the discussion question of "Should Tablets Replace Textbooks in K-12 Schools? We have the previous two packets posted in our TpT store. Again, this lesson directly targets the Common Core standards and preparing students for the argumentative essay section of the Common Core English regents.
This packet includes a "Basic Outline for Argumentative Essay". We then provide individual outlines that can be utilized for each paragraph within the essay. Again, this is an argumentative essay so we included an outline for the "Counterclaim Paragraph". Packet #3 goes into further detail regarding the writing of the "Counterclaim Paragraph" since it is a challenging paragraph to write correctly.
We also include a variety of sentence starters for the introduction, conclusion, body paragraph, and counterclaim paragraphs. We also include transition words and phrases that can be utilized within an essay to increase sentence variation and improve the students overall writing vocabulary.
This is a great packet that can be adapted to fit any argumentative essay topic. We have another packet in our TpT store that focuses on a different argumentative essay topic.
We have also included a lesson plan that focuses on many of the strategies and language underpinnings students need to write a coherent and comprehensive argumentative essay.
