This is the fifth packet out of the five packets that have been generated for this discussion question of "Should Tablets Replace Textbooks in K-12 Schools?" This packet focuses on "Proofreading Your Essay". The previous two packets focused on utilizing outlines to write an argumentative essay. We included the two strategies that we taught our students ARMS and CUPS. We are selling the posters for ARMS and CUPS in our TPT store if you just want the posters to hang in your classroom.

ARMS and CUPS is a useful strategy that helps the students understand the difference between revising and editing their writing.

We also generated an Argumentative Essay Revise and Edit Checklist to help the students focus their attention and decide if they included all of the necessary parts for each paragraph. The checklist goes through each paragraph and the student is expected to check-off yes or no. If there is a check in the "no" column then the student would realize they need to revise their writing before submitting it to the teacher. We also include a second checklist so that they can engage in peer revising/editing.

This is the last packet in the series related to our general discussion question of "Should Tablets Replace Textbooks in K-12 Schools?" We found that after the five total packets our students wrote a thorough argumentative essay and because of the outlines provided, they included all of the necessary components to receive a good grade.

We have also included a lesson plan that focuses on many of the strategies and language underpinnings students need to write a coherent and comprehensive argumentative essay.
