This is an assessment intended for Second Grade, Quarter 1. Here in Hawaii where I teach most students are not taught about money in first grade. It is important to first build a firm foundation for students. For quarter 1 we expect students to be able to name each coin, state it's value, and solve word problems where they draw and add like coins under $1.
On this assessment, students are asked to identify the name and value of the each coin (Quarter, Dime, Nickel, Penny) based on a picture of the front of each coin, as well as solve 4 word problems where they are asked to draw and add like coins. For example, Danny's dad gave him 3 quarters. Draw his money and tell how much money he has in all. Students are also expected to use the correct symbol ($ or ¢)
The test is 2 pages ling and an additional page is added with a suggested rubric.
I hope you find this assessment as useful as I do! I also have an advanced assessment available in my store as well as an end of the year assessment that covers every math standard :)
