I used this to introduce RL.2.6. I wanted my students to be able to identify characteristics of a character and provide evidence from a story before they could tell the point of view or voice of a character.
In this activity...
Students may manipulate characteristic cards to show their knowledge of Cinderella, The Prince, The Fairy Godmother and Stepmother's character traits. Word and picture cards (provided in black and white and 2 skin colors) make it easy to sort, move around and discuss characters in a group.
With this activity, my students realized that more than one character had the same character trait. I had them use evidence from the story and expain how they knew the characters exhibited these traits.
Last, I had students organize the characteristics of the characters using this super cute graphic organizer! They chose one strong characteristic that described that character and provided evidence from the text to support their answer. I used this as my independent activity to see if the students could produce answers on their own.
Thanks for looking!
