Who killed Bertha? Her fiancé, cousin, or brother and business partner? Students will devour the short murder mystery story as they attempt to solve the crime by collecting textual evidence to infer, summarize, characterize, and sequence the events. They will also work on their writing and listening/speaking during their investigation. Teams of collaborative groups work together on the clues (pieces of the story and CCSS-aligned activities) and don't get the next set of clues until the Chief of Police (teacher) approves each task at hand. Students will work their way through the standards in order to be the first group to solve the murder mystery!
