CCSS Aligned ELA Writing, Speaking & Listening, Language Assessment Bank Bundle –Grades K - 2
This Assessment Bank Bundle is a collection of my CCSS Aligned ELA Writing, Speaking & Listening and Language assessment banks for Kindergarten, First and Second Grades.
The Kindergarten level contains over 390 pages of complete assessments, while the First and Second Grades contain over 500 pages of assessments.
These Assessment Banks were designed to save teachers time in developing assessments to use in assesssing student performance in and learning of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) ELA Writing, Speaking & Listening, and Language at the K, 1st and 2nd grade levels.
The standards in the Assessment Banks are deconstructed into two or more objectives for teaching and learning. Each Assessment Bank contains at least two (most have more than two) assessments aligned to each of the CCSS for Writing, Speaking & Listening and Language at each grade level. The assessments are authentic and curriculum-based and were developed to provide you with relevant student performance data.
This assessment bank bundle covers the English Language Arts CCSS in the areas of Writing, Speaking & Listening, and Language at the Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade levels. Each Assessment Bank is organized into three sections: Writing, Speaking & Listening, and Language, which correspond to the three areas of the Common Core ELA Standards. I have available separate Assessment Banks for the areas of reading and mathematics. Some assessments administered at the primary grade levels are best conducted in one-on-one assessment situations with the teacher or other adult providing oral directions as well as reading some print material orally to the student. While many of the assessments may be administered whole-group, some assessments in this bank were designed to be administered in one-on-one situations.
Teacher directions are provided for each assessment in each Assessment Bank. Due to the nature of some assessments and the frequency of administration, I have included at least two forms for all assessments, a Form A and Form B. Some assessments have more than two forms. For these assessments, teachers can alternate the use of the different forms to allow for pretests and post-tests of the standards/objectives and to reduce the possibility that students may learn the responses to the assessments simply by engaging in the assessments repeatedly.
Performance and progress for most standards in the area of Writing and Speaking and Listening are best measured using authentic-type means of evaluation. Therefore, most assessments in the Writing and Speaking & Listening include an accompanying scoring rubric and involve writing samples, observation and anecdotal records. For those assessments which do not have an accompanying scoring rubric, an answer key is provided.
All assessments in these assessment banks have an accompanying Assessment Record for teachers to use to document student performance and progress in mastering the standard/objective across trials/forms and over time. Teachers choosing to use these Assessment Records simply transfer the assessment data from the actual examiner or student assessment copy to the Assessment Record form. These Assessment Records would be ideal to use to monitor student performance over time and to report student progress to parents during parent conferences or to team members during Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings. The Assessment Record also contains detailed directions for administering the assessments.
Also included at the end of each assessment bank are CCSS Class Performance Records for each of the three ELA areas. These Class Performance Records can be used to determine the overall performance/progress toward mastery of the Common Core Standards for an entire class. Teachers using these forms can easily and quickly determine the overall level of performance for all students in one class related to the individual standards to assist in planning and making overall instructional decisions.
The assessment banks in this bundle contain a table of contents organized by area (Writing, Speaking and Listening, and Language) and by standard for quickly finding the necessary assessments for the standard on which you are working.
