This product helps students learn vocabulary and sentence recognition / writing by combining two research-based strategies: Synonymous Groupings of Target Terms and Imprinting. Students learn new vocabulary easily when the target term has a simple and relevant synonym that's already in their present vocabulary, and that term is connected to many others in the same exercise. Everyone learns through examples. Students are no different. The sentences presented are very effective graphic paradigms. Students become imprinted with these sentence patterns as they read and paraphrase the target sentences repeatedly, searching for and identifying the demonstrated connotative thrust of each target term. When the sentence patterns have been absorbed, the writing lesson is all but done. Students begin to quickly realize that every sentence that sounds the same is written the same! Thus, having the students to simply write the sentences as they are dictated will provide proof positive of the effectiveness of this strategy and learning tool.
