Designed to show progress in each standard across between year groups.
The standards are set out to offer a focus for instruction each year and help ensure that students gain adequate exposure to a range of texts and tasks. These success ladders show progression through the grades, so you can see at a glance the direction in which the learning is going, with children building on skills already learned to advance through the grades.
This pack contains child-friendly statements for each of the reading standards. They are set out using wording that is easy to read and understand. Each grade has three statements: skills the children should have achieved in the previous grade (I can), skills they are working towards in their present grade (I am working to), and skills higher achievers could aspire to (I can even).
Two columns are included for assessment, one for students and one for teachers. Stick a copy of the relevant standard in the front of each student’s workbook for easy reference. Students assess how well they think they have achieved each of the objectives by ticking, coloring (red, yellow or green) or drawing the appropriate smiley face. Teachers use their column to indicate whether they agree or disagree with the child’s assessment.
Please note that standard RF:L:8 is not applicable to literature and has therefore been omitted from this pack.
