Description
I created this notebook file for the SMART board. This is part of our first grade team goal. We are using the rekenrek beads to learn addition. This goes along with number talks and learning about what numbers mean. This file goes right along with the Common Core State Standards. First grade needs to be fluent with addition sentences up to 10. Kindergarten needs to be fluent with addition up to 5. Either of these grades could really benefit from this slide.
If you don't have rekenreks you can easily make them with beads on a string. Five beads on the top string will be red, then 5 more white. On the bottom string there are five red next to five white as well. The students can slide the beads across the to create numbers and addition sentences.
Enjoy! :)
