Dia de los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead,” is a Mexican holiday which honors loved ones who have died.
The skulls and skeletons of Day of the Dead celebrations are not meant to be scary or sad, but to remind us that we are all the same inside—”todos somos calaveras," which means "we are all skulls/skeletons."
DIA DE LOS MUERTOS is the perfect way to introduce this unique holiday. This 9-page book explains the origins and traditions of the festival and highlights the following symbols:
-Papel picado (decorations)
-Calacas (skeletons) and Catrina dolls
The book also includes a Spanish vocabulary matching game.
