Thank you for buying this resource “Mission To Mars”. It is designed as a project and problem based resource for cell biology. Students are given different scenarios, and problems and must overcome them using scientific method and investigation. There are 5 lessons but the whole course could take up to 3 weeks to successfully complete.
It covers The characteristics of life, The necessities of life, Cell structure and function, and general cell biology. This resource covers (some in more depth than others) the Next Generation Science Standards for Middle School “Structure, Function and Information Processing”. It would also be great for home school or other grade levels.
I recommend allowing students to work in small groups of 3 or individually for each problem. All problems must be completed in the classroom, using the time that is stated (some assignments range from 10 min to 5 days).
Students should be graded on participation, and on their final published work. Participation could be worth 10 points per problem, then however many points you want to assign for each mini project/problem. Each project includes worked examples and an answer key of what information the students should have discovered from each problem. These answer key could be used as a review, or for grading their work.
I hope that you and your students enjoy this resource. to find more visit:
