Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) is an inquiry-based approach to teaching mathematics based on the developmental stages of children's mathematical reasoning.
K.OA.A states that our kindergarteners should be able to "understand addition as putting together and adding to, and understand subtraction as taking apart and taking from," referring to specific CGI problem types.
This Kinder Edition focuses on these specific CGI problem types referenced by our Common Core Standards.
The pack includes:
(1) 10 Join Result Unknown (JRU) Word Problems
(2) 10 Separate Result Unknown (SRU) Word Problems
(3) 12 Part/Part/Whole Whole Unknown (PPWWU) Word Problems
(4) 10 Part/Part/Whole Both Parts Unknown* (PPWBPU) Word Problems
Each Word Problem comes with a large Teacher Task Card and Print & Cut Student Labels (10 per sheet).
*I created this last category as it is part of the CCSSM standards for K. :)
