These "Clip-It" task cards focus on the spelling of /ch/ at the end of a closed syllable word. The cards are intended for students who need extra practice with the final ch/tch rule in Orton Gillingham (or the "Catch Lunch" rule in the Barton Reading and Spelling System), however, this activity can be used as a general resource for any classroom teaching final /ch/.
NOTE: Students must be explicitly taught the ch/tch spelling rule before using this resource!
Using clothespins or a different object/marker, students will mark the correct spelling for /ch/ for the words provided. Students must think about the spelling rule for using ch or tch at the end of a closed syllable word to help them decide which spelling is correct. A recording sheet and answer key are included for students to complete and check their answers independently.
This resource would be perfect for a classroom literacy center, small group instruction, or a 1:1 tutoring situation. The task cards are engaging and ready-to-use. Just print, laminate, & cut!
