This kit was designed for grades 1-4 and include the following:
6 Observation Cards
Use these cards to record observations made when studying individual coins and a dollar bill. This will help students identify money for counting.
3 Money-Themed Poems
These poems will help reinforce money concepts. They will help your students understand coin values and combinations.
Alphabet Coin Values
Your students can use any list of words or create their own. They will use the chart to determine the value of each letter and then combine them to find out the value of their word. I find it helpful to provide them with plastic coins to manipulate. This also makes a great homework page. Students enjoy using this as a choice time activity and challenge themselves to find the "most expensive word" possible. There are primary and intermediate ruled pages included.
Money Value Reference Chart
This handy chart demonstrates the value of money. There are four columns which include a color image, the value written in dollars, the value written in sense, and the word.
Cut out each row and then cut each row into 4 cards using different patterns to create self-correcting cards.
There are two options for this activity. Students can either match the coin picture cards to their value cards or else pair a card with the card that totals $1.00.
