Explicitly explain your guidelines for success during each activity during the day.
Conversation- Can the students talk during this activity? (Whisper, table talk, silent)
Help- How can students get help while working? (Raise hand, ask a friend, ask teacher)
Activity- What are students doing?
Movement- Can students move while working? (To the bathroom, get supplies, to get resources)
Participation- What does their participation look like? (Talking with partner, working at table, working independently, listening to the speaker)
Success- How will they know when they are successful?
Can be modified for EVERY class activity during the day. Students will know EXACTLY what your expectations are and become increasingly independent while decreasing behavior issues.
I have included:
- a small version that can be laminated and used with a dry erase marker or with small pictures
-a larger version (two letters per page) that can be laminated, cut and reassembled for a bigger representation of CHAMPs to display.
