I have bundled three lesson plans for this packet: #1 Dictionary Skills which was offered as a free sample, #2 Character Traits and #3 Chapter Summaries and Point of View. All together there are 18 pages of materials.
These lessons include higher-level thinking skills and are designed with upper elementary students in mind.
The dictionary portion consists of four pages. Each page has a complete dictionary entry with questions that can be answered from reading the entry. This lesson will familiarize students with parts of an entry and how to glean information from the entry.
The character Traits section asks the students to identify traits of a character, then defend their answer with facts from the story Charlotte's Web.
A graphic organizer describes the parts of a Chapter Summary. Students use this form to write summaries of several chapters. They summarize chapters from the point-of-view of different "Charlotte"characters.
You will find that important skills are developed in this packet by using strategies that are not found in textbooks. The lessons are not superficial. They require students to do "in depth" thinking.
Please give me feedback.
