Product Description
World War One: Final Project - Creating a Memorial

In this World War One final project, students will choose from a variety of topics provided including: The Battle of Vimy Ridge, the No. 2 Construction Battalion, Arthur Currie, Canadian Nurses on the Western Front, Billy Bishop and many more. Once a topic is selected, students will conduct research to develop a greater sense of the importance of that topic and its impact on the overall war and on the people of Canada. Once research is complete students will create a historical monument proposal, scale model and written explanation of their memorial following the guidelines provided. A detailed bibliography will also be completed as part of the project. A highly engaging, hands-on activity, this project asks students to use Historical Thinking Skills to demonstrate their knowledge as well as bring creativity to their work. A full project outline is included with Historical Thinking rationale, a marking rubric and student exemplars. This project will engage even the most disinterested student and challenge them to explore their own areas of interest and utilize their creativity!
