Chemical symbols and their corresponding atomic numbers are often difficult to remember, and rarely fun to learn. It doesn’t have to be either. This work sheet challenges students to scan the Periodic Table of the Elements to find element symbols that can be connected to each other, forming words, in sentences. Then a code for each word in the sentence can be formed using the matching atomic numbers. Of course the puzzle-like nature of the work will entertain the students as they work. But more so will familiarize them with the Periodic Chart and the symbols and their atomic numbers found within it. Kids can work separately or in pairs, as homework, or as a supplement to any atoms, elements, or chemistry unit. It is available separately or as a part of my five-work sheet bundle, “CHEMICAL SYMBOLS AND ATOMIC NUMBERS ARE FUN!”.
