Chewbacca is looking for some First Grade helpers in his bakery (wookies love cookies and A_E words!).
In CHEWIE'S BAKERY your students will gather letters as they roll and move around the game board. They will use the letters to build Short A (CVC, CCVC, and CCVCC) words and Long A (CVCe and CCVCe) words. If they are the first one to build 4 A_E words they win the game (and maybe a wookie-cookie).
There are special spaces on the board that allow Chewie's helpers to get another silent E, double a consonant they already have, or jump to any place on the board. But, watch out for the Sith. If they land on him, their time is up and they must give back a letter.
To get started, print the game board on cardstock. I like to attach mine to the inside of a file folder. Also print the A_E word list and provide each player with a CHEWIE'S BAKERY recording sheet and pencil.
In addition, you will need letter manipulatives, bingo chips to use as game pieces and a die. Now you are ready to bake-up some phonics fun with your favorite Wookie!
