Each year, I assign my students a "base country" in my world geography classes and have them complete this fact-finding worksheet in order to become "experts" in their country. Later, they will use their expertise as we learn about each nation and participate in Model United Nations and similar simulations.
Additionally, I have used these as collaborative learning activities (where two students complete one together); stations (where students complete new ones each unit); and as an assessment (where I have provided students with selectively completed, but unnamed factsheets and asked students to identify the nation based on provided information).
This is one of those "go to" activities that I have enjoyed with success in my regular and gifted courses for years.
