Description

Students will choose one battle of the American Civil War and research essential information about it. A list of battles is included.

A detailed student hand-out leads them through the process. A page with teacher suggestions and instructions is included too.

A tri-fold matrix (two versions of the outer page) is the final result. This has areas for date, location, and leaders on the outer page, and major events on the inner page. The inner page is one unit, and not divided into thirds.

In addition, using events that followed Lee's surrender at Appomattox, there is a lesson on validating research sources: graphic organizer/answer sheet & page for internet links for each answer.

All of the above make good additions to interactive notebooks, too.

A word search with names and terms for the Civil War, for early finishers or just for fun, is on this file also.

Classroom tested with great success.
