This is a CRITICAL component of my week. These words are the fluency thieves! I like these words to be as automatic as possible to avoid stumbling.
Track the progress your students are making toward memorizing their "tricky words". Better yet, have students track themselves!
Dolch words from the 1st - 3rd grade sets are also included in these fluency lists.
Take-home lists for reinforcement and practice at home during the week.
Fridays are "timing" days. The students need to finish the list in 15 seconds with one or zero mistakes in order to pass. Talk about a QUICK and EASY FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT for students and teachers to adjust instruction for the following week. If they pass, they advance to a harder level. If they don't, time to intervene with the words they missed.
