Need some ideas on how to seamlessly slip these tunes into the mix? Check out the list below.
Transitions – pop on a tune as your students are rotating stations. It helps keep them in check and focused.
Spice Up A Game – add a song to a math game, whip around, or an ELA activity. Music can serve as a brain break to help extend the activity. For example, I use smelly pens during various spelling games. Every so often, I slam on a tune and they get up and trade smells (pens). They bop, smile, and focus the whole time.
Pick Up Time – if you notice pick up time is going extra slow, pick an upbeat song to speed things up.
Switching Desks – if you’re switching seats for an activity or a day of fun, use the end of a tune to indicate it’s time to make a FINAL decision.
Calm Down – notice they are coming in all jacked up after recess or a “specials” pull-out. Put on a calming tune as they/you get ready to move into the next lesson/activity.
