Product Description
This CLOSE Reading graphic organizer will help build the metacognitive skill of "reading with a pencil" (CLOSE Reading) while students are reading educational blogs or other online sources. Students are so engaged when working with technology and online sources that they are interested in. I created this graphic organizer to help them organize their thoughts while reading online sources in the same way they do when we are coding the text of print sources that we read in class. I allow the students to choose their own blog to follow from a list of teacher approved blogs. They must read one article every other week, complete a graphic organizer, and complete a quick write on the article's topic(informative, narrative, or persuasive). This skill will help students prepare for the state testing where they are required to read multiple online sources then answer questions and write about them. I also used this graphic organizer when my students were reading articles on newsela.com. Example included.
