The documentary is approximately an hour and a half and covers the struggles encountered by African Americans and their fight for Civil Rights led by Martin Luther King Jr. Events covered in the video and viewing guide include the sit-in movement, the Freedom Rides, Freedom Summer, George Wallace's attempt to block the doors of the University of Alabama, the Birmingham marches and church bombings, and the events in Selma Alabama and the March to Montgomery, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the March on Washington, and MLK's I Have A Dream speech. The documentary also includes brief looks at James Meredith, Medgar Evers, Stokely Carmichael and the rise of the Black Power Movement after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. The video is an excellent overview of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s.
