Product Description
Clash of Clans™ Math Investigations - Rate, Ratio & Percent
Appropriate for grades 5-7 & Homeschool

PURPOSE:
This product is a self-guided set of investigations aimed at the largest mathematics concept being taught in 6th and 7th grade classrooms: Proportional Relationships. This set of three investigations will guide your students through three different aspects of the game, and might show them how much more math has to do with something as simple as the games they play than they thought.

WHAT’S INCLUDED:
This product contains:
☆“How to Use These Investigations” Guide
☆3 investigations of the Difficulty Level 1
☆Rates (a look at town halls)
☆Ratios (a look at army compositions)
☆Percents (a look at 3 star victories)
☆Glossary of Terms

STORY:
Of the nearly 25 million users who are playing Clash of Clans...it is estimated that 10-20% of players are in the age range 11-15. Seeing this trend also carried out in my classroom, I decided to turn those countless "Clan War" and "Upgrade" conversations into a relevant tool for teaching students mathematics.

Start getting those off-topic video game conversations flowing in the right direction with my Clash of Clans Math Investigations. This set of 3 investigations will leave your students hungry for more math connections in their everyday lives, and at the low cost of free, this is a lesson you can use tomorrow!

POSSIBLE EXTENSIONS:
Have students come up with their own ideas about how math is used in a game they play. They could even present these ideas to the class with a drawing or a writeup.

MATERIALS/PRE-REQS:
Besides this file, you may require:
☆Some knowledge of the game itself
☆Interest in the actual game from your students
