For years, I struggled with getting my neediest students the tools needed to write clear, concise argumentative essays. They would either never have enough relevant textual evidence for their claims or never knew how to start their essays. A couple of years ago, I created this graphic organizer and it literally changed how I taught writing in my class!
This argumentative essay graphic organizer is MUST HAVE for any student who struggles with finding textual evidence for their papers.
HOW IT WORKS:
This graphic organizer is BEST used as an exemplary to teach how to format argumentative essays and during the independent practice phase for students to know the structure so they're not bombarding you with question after question.
This graphic organizer can be used for any grade starting in grade 6 all the way through 12th grade. Younger students may be able to use it without them having to cite as many examples of textual evidence.
This graphic organizer is color-coded so that students can recognize the various types of textual evidence and how that translates to supporting claims in the body paragraph.
