10 generic questions that will work for any short story or novel.
I've used it with "Two Kinds," "Marigolds," "There Will Come Soft Rains," and other Ray Bradbury stories. This make a great SUB day plan--give kids a copy of the story you want them to read / annotate and have them complete the responses.
I've also had kids pick 5 of the 10 questions, then report out to the rest of the class. Lots of ways to mix it up with this handout!
The last two years I've used it as PARCC prep, to mirror the fiction tasks on the exam, and this year, I'm using it as a supplement to the SPRINGBOARD workbooks which our district purchased.
There are also several quotes from notable writers which allow students to connect the story they read to the broader ideas of writing fiction, such as characterization and themes.
