This SUMMARY WRITING project asks students to read and compare myths/legends from two very different cultures, finding both the similarities and differences (COMPARING and CONTRASTING. Students will read two myths, one Greek Myth, and the other a Blackfoot Myth, both 'explaining' how the “BIG DIPPER” came to be.
Greek Mythology and Native American legends may seem like two very different genres, but many similarities can be found.

CONTENTS:

*A common core alignment page.
RL.4.9: Compare and contrast the treatment of similar themes and topics (e.g., opposition of good and evil) and patterns of events (e.g., the quest) in stories, myths, and traditional literature from different cultures.

*A summary frame, with key COMPARE/CONTRAST words and phrases to help scaffold instruction

*Two traditional summary examples of each myth, which can be used to help the COMPARE/CONTRAST skill (NEWLY ADDED).
