This SUMMARY WRITING project asks students to read and compare TRADITIONAL LITERATURE from two very different cultures, finding both the similarities and differences (COMPARING and CONTRASTING). Students will read two stories, one Native North American Myth ("STRONG WIND & THE YOUNGEST DAUGHTER"), and the other an Egyptian tale ("RHODOPIS"), both '"Rags to Riches" early Cinderella stories.
These stories may seem like two very different genres, but many similarities can be found.

CONTENTS:

*A common core alignment page.

RL.4.9: Compare and contrast the treatment of similar themes and topics (e.g., opposition of good and evil) and patterns of events (e.g., the quest) in stories, myths, and traditional literature from different cultures.
