In my teaching work over the past 30 years I have found that students find some words confusing. DESERT and DESSERT are just two that fall into this category. The game format means they can play over and over and it is this level of repetition that some need to learn the difference.
The game doesn't take long and it is a good way to begin or end an RTI session. I have provided a POSTER and ANSWER sheet so you can add it to a Literacy Centre as an independent activity to consolidate the skill. This provides differentiation and can give your RTI students the advantage of teaching other students how to play.
My store has lots of games that target specific literacy (and numeracy) skills, just like this.
