PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Once my students learned the stair step method for the metric system they found that converting the metric system was quite simple. Then, we moved to the US system of customary measurement. Suddenly, they couldn’t remember the numbers to use, or when to multiply or when to divide. They could not figure out which number they were supposed to multiply or divide by. It was confusing. It was hard to cross over from the metric system to the US Customary system. There was not much in common. It was ugly. So I sat down one Saturday and tried and tried to make this as easy as the Metric System Stair steps… and I DID IT!!!!! This product contains a colorful, easy to follow anchor chart, explicit directions on how to use the stair step as well as how to introduce it to students, a worksheet for practicing converting capacity, volume and length, as well as ways to help students prepare for PARCC or other state assessments. This will also work great for ELL's as well as Special Education students since it is a visual model that is easy to follow. Once students have practiced my method, they will be able to easily apply this to any word problem, worksheet, task card or test question in order to easily convert among units in the US customary system for length, capacity, and volume. (units covered are gallons, quarts, pints, cups, fluid ounces, tons, pounds, ounces, miles, yards, feet and inches)
