Teachers using this center need to gather 10 different objects to measure. Additionally, students should have metric rulers or meter sticks available to use. Students use this table to choose objects to measure in a particular metric unit (mm, cm, m, etc.) Students measure the object in ONE unit. Then, using base 10 patterns of multiplication and division, students will convert the measurement to other units in the chart. This worksheet can also easily be changed to metric units of capacity and weight, so multiple centers can be set up to practice and make sense of metric measurement. Students should work in small groups and collaborate as they use measuring instruments.
