Don't make me call the C.O.P.S.
COPS stands for Capitalization, Organization, Punctuation and Spelling. It is a simple acronym to help students remember important parts in the editing process.
My students always check for COPS before handing in their work. These posters can be displayed in your classroom, and the guided editing questions can help your students to be more successful with the editing process. Although we know that every class is different, so included in your download are editable PowerPoint slides for you to add your own guiding questions.
All posters are available in color and black & white (printer-friendly versions).
Last, but not least, for your speedy writers, you can issue them a ticket! Tickets can be attached to any piece of student work, and indicate that the student needs to recheck their work.
