VISUALIZING - These are excellent writing tools to help students. As you read a book or passage, the students create images of characters and scenes in their minds using their prior knowledge and their imagination. Then, they translate them to paper.
Read the book or passage aloud at a moderate pace. Do not show them any pictures. It is very important that students create their own mental images of what is happening in the story. As you read, the students are drawing as they see it in their minds.
When finish the read aloud, the students write about what they just drew, color and share.
