CRITICAL THINKING with TRIADS VII
Continue to challenge the critical thinking of your students with Triads VII
. While teaching your students to use Bloom's upper level skills, you will be increasing their vocabulary and helping them develop word relationships. Better yet, they will have fun!
Here's how Triads
works: Find a word that can be added to each of the words on the Triads
. The common word comes before or after each of the 3 words to make a familiar phrase or a compound word. For example: the common word for the Triad
of box, time,
is LUNCH; LUNCHbox, LUNCHtime,
and sack LUNCH
. You will absolutely love watching your students' "light bulb" moments.
This is a great activity for a literacy center or enrichment. It could also be used as an anchor or sponge activity. The challenge is perfect for fast finishers. Triads VII
are aligned with the CCSS. Two sets of Triads
cards are provided; 1 set in color, the other in black line. Reproduce the cards on cardstock, laminate, and use for years to come. An answer key is provided for your convenience.
