How to use this Product:
This product is very similar to the first CUBES booklet. However, this book has problems that require two or more steps. Print this out for students to use in small groups, whole class, or on their own.
Students will learn to break word problems apart by using the strategy CUBES. They will be able to decide what information is important, and what should be left out.
I suggest modeling how to do the first two problems with the class. Use colored pencils or crayons. Circle, underline, box, and eliminate the information with the designated colors.
The “solve” is black seeing as we want the students to do the math in pencil in case they make mistakes.
You can print the notebook out in full pages or in a booklet form on Adobe. To do so in Adobe, follow these steps:
Print pages 3-15
3. Click Booklet under the page Sizing and Handling section
4. Click Print
This is geared specifically for fourth grade but could benefit a high leveled third grader or beginning of the year fifth grader.
