-Print, cut out the square, and laminate.
-Give one to each student, or keep a few at the classroom writing center.
This is a great editing tool students can use when editing their own paper or a partner's paper.
Using the heading of each side, students focus on correcting one mechanic at a time. Just slide the square down the paper to check each line, one at a time.
Rotate the square, move back to the top of the paper, and check for the next mechanic, line by line.
Repeat this process until CAPITALIZATION, USAGE,PUNCTUATION, and SPELLING, have all been evaluated.
Colored pens or pencils can be used to correct each corresponding mechanic on the paper.
