These cards help beginning readers segment and blend CVC words. Students will use the touch dots as they sound out the words. One card set has a solid black dot under the vowel, and another set has a white dot under the vowel. There is also a set without dots.
*CVC Word and Picture Cards
Students will use the touch dots as they sound out the words. One card set has a solid black dot under the vowel, and another set has a white dot under the vowel. There are pictures on the cards, so students can self check.
*Missing Phoneme Cards - 3 Choices
Students use the picture to sound out the word and write the missing phoneme. There are three sets of cards, missing beginning, middle, and ending sound.
*CVC Writing Strips
Use the strips to practice sound out words and blending phonemes. Students stretch out the word slowly. Then they write a letter for each phoneme and spell the word.
*CVC Elkonin Boxes
Use these boxes to practice sounding out and blending phonemes. Then students spell the CVC words.
*Roll and Read
This is a fun, quick fluency activity. Students roll a die, and then read the words in that row. As they read, they touch the dot under the word.
*If I can spell...
These are separated into word families. Students change the beginning sound to spell the new words.
There are two different assessments.
In the first assessment, students will look at the picture and stretch out the phonemes. Students will circle a letter for each phoneme. Then students will write the word.
The second assessment are word lists. It is a quick check of 10 words for students to read.
I hope you and your students enjoy these activities.
