Practice reading and blending CVC phonics with this reading card game. The beach theme is perfect for end of year, summer, or back to school short vowel practice. You can use this in guided reading groups, students can use during daily five word work, or with a classroom volunteer.
Are your students needing CVC practice? Wanting to keep the learning fun before it becomes frustrating, I created a summer-themed 'read a card' game for back to school centers and small group time.
60 CVC word cards are included (12 words per middle vowel), as well as 12 'change it up cards.' The goal is to get the most cards, and the game suddenly stops when students pull a card telling them to 'stop.'
Directions are included with easy to read sight words and pictures, and suggestions for volunteers are included.
I hope you and your students enjoy! This type of card game is quickly becoming a class favorite for my firsties. I love that they are still learning and also how little prep it is (even when laminating). Place the cards in a can (save those coffee cans!) or a small paper bag, and your kids are set to go.
