These posters are designed to help children read and write by using their existing letter sound knowledge to create a variety of words.
Includes: 17 (12 in x 18 in) pdf CVC Posters
And a PDF list of CVC Words for each poster
In my classroom, I use these posters for whole group lessons. I make sure to have my alphabet letter and sounds chart next to me so that students can use it to help them form other words that are formed with the same endings.
Just print out the posters and laminate (I like to cut out the picture before I laminate).
Whole Group Lesson:
First, we figure out the missing first letter in the poster.
Example: _ox (with a picture of a fox below it)
Students figure out that the missing letter is F and the teacher writes the letter F in the blank space (using a dry erase marker, so that the poster may be used year after year).
Next, students offer the teacher other letters that could replace the F to make a new word and the teacher writes the words on the picture. At first, I help students by going through the letters in the alphabet chart and seeing which make words when added to the given ending.
Hang up the poster!
Students really enjoy this activity and being able to read the words on the posters by themselves!
