This CVC "DOT" Blending Word Card product includes 110 common short vowel CVC word cards. Each card displays a clipart image, word, blank dots, and a blending arrow.
The CVC "DOT" Blending Word Cards can be used in several different ways.
Have students form three small play-dough balls. Place the play-dough balls on the blank dots.
1. Students will practice saying each letter sound while smashing the small play-dough ball as they go along and sound out each letter.
2. Students will then work on "blending" all letter sounds together by following the arrow across the card with their index finger.
3. On the last step, students will gather all three play-dough balls while blending the letter sounds and forming/reading the word.
The play-dough concept can be used with other materials as well. Some ideas are: bingo daubers, finger paints, simple counters (place a counter on top of each blank dot. On step 3, students will swipe the counters off the blank dots with their index finger.
