These far from basic flashcards are a perfect way to quickly practice or review CVC words.
Every card has 3 blank dots at the bottom which help kids keep track of each letter sound. Students can put one finger on each dot as they sound out each word. The dots can also be used to keep track of how many times each word has been read aloud by coloring in a dot each time. Every card also includes the word family on the top right, allowing sorting and matching practice.
I’ve created full page, half page and quarter page options so you can use them in many different ways:
Full page versions – good for word walls or to play floor games
Half page versions – good for younger children’s small hands
Quarter page versions – good for older children and for playing games, like Memory (print 2 sets), Old Maid (add another card (could even be blank) to serve as the Old Maid card), or Reading Races (whoever reads the word correctly keeps it, winner has the most)
Each set comes in two versions – with pictures and without:
Full-page (1 to a page) CVC flashcards with pictures
Full-page (1 to a page) CVC flashcards without pictures
Half-page (2 to a page) CVC flashcards with pictures
Half-page (2 to a page) CVC flashcards without pictures
Quarter-page (4 to a page) CVC flashcards with pictures
Quarter-page (4 to a page) CVC flashcards without pictures
Beginning readers can use cards with pictures and more advanced readers can go without. I suggest printing these on cardstock and then laminating for durability so you can use them over and over again.
These flashcards cover 114 CVC words (sticking to the CVC words that can be easily shown in a picture). All of the flashcards are in black and white to save ink in printing.
