Product Description
Reading fluency provides a link between word recognition and reading comprehension. Fluent readers do not have to put their energy towards decoding words, and can pay attention to what the text means.

The Common Core aligned CVC Fluency Pack provides plenty of practice for beginning readers to increase their reading ability and help them to love reading! The pack includes:

- 108 real words
- 18 nonsense words
- blank word cards

- 35 sentences made up of short vowels, Dolch pre-primer, and primer sight words
- blank sentence cards

- 3 pages of real words
- 2 pages of nonsense words
- 5 pages of sentences

Word cards are sorted by short vowel and sentence cards are sorted by length so you can meet your students’ needs and print only the pages you need.

Have a student who is struggling? Work with just one short vowel at a time and shorter sentences.

Have a student who needs more? Work with all of the short vowels and longer sentences.

My nonsense word lists follow standard English spelling patterns such as no words ending in a single ‘f’, ‘l’, or ‘s’. Even though they’re nonsense words I want to bolster students spelling skills. After all, kids learn from what they see!

***A note about the ‘am’ and ‘an’ patterns...I have them separated in the words, sentences, and practice pages because they do not make the typical short a sound. Some reading programs, such as Fundations, teach these separately because it benefits struggling readers who need explicit instruction to learn it as a different sound than the usual short a. I wanted to make it easy for you to separate them out if you want to.***
