These Four In a Row games are for students to practice sounding out CVC words. There is a game board for each short vowel sound, and a gameboard that has all of the short vowel sounds combined onto one board. This would be great for LITERACY CENTERS.
You Need: at least 2 players, a die, 10-15 colored counters for each player
Object of the Game: To be the first to make a line of four horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
Directions: Player 1 tosses a die, reads a word with the same number as the die. If read correctly, the counter stays, if not, the teacher says the word and returns the counter to the child. Repeat back and forth between player 1 and player 2 until someone makes a line of four in a row
