This is a tool that I have found great success with at my school to teach nonsnese words in small reading groups. I designed it to teach blending in very small steps to measure progress or provide interventions for kids who just aren't getting how to blend.
PLEASE give me feedback on this item. I am offering it for free so that I can get feedback. As a National Board candidate this year, any information about how/if this tool improved student learning in your classroom would be very helpful.
TIPS:I use this tool by printing off bound booklets for each child in my small group. I have students read using their tracking or "tricky" fingers. They can read chorally or individually. All sounds are short vowel. When you get to a sound combination such as "so" I teach them that the WORD "so" says so, but that we are learning sound combinations and it says so as in sock.
