Do your students need more practice reading CVC words? These partner board games can be used as centers, small group activities, or sponge activities when work is finished.
There are six different CVC games with a community helpers theme – short a (construction worker), short e (mail carrier), short I (scientist), short o (doctor), short u (firefighter), and a mixture of short vowels (grocer). They come in color or black and white.
To play, just print and laminate the game board or slide it into a plastic sheet protector. Each game needs a paper clip and pencil for a spinner as well as 2 game marker pieces. Player 1 spins the spinner on the board using the paper clip and pencil. If they land on “Read a word!”, the student reads the word and puts their game marker on the word. If they land on “Skip a turn.”, they do nothing and it is the other player’s turn. The first player to finish reading their list of words is the winner.
