There are 2 different sets in this packet. The first involves students sounding out the vowel and last consonant together of CVC words. Once the student has sounded it out, he/she will read it 3 times and move to the next step. In step 3, students add a beginning consonant
sound to form a CVC word. In step 4, they write the word and then draw a picture of it.
The second activity set involves students building words and then deciding if they are real words or non-sense words.
My Kindergarteners love doing these during independent group time. They get excited that they are reading on their own. I also have a lot of girls who like to color. I let them write their words in rainbow colors with markers.
